teach for america: postponed
the much anticipated day has finally come and gone. i received an email around two o’clock in the afternoon titled “Your Teach for America Application” and I sat there debating whether or not to click on it. A friend of mine happened to be passing by the computer lounge, so I had him do the honors of revealing the news.
i’ve always had this thing about me where i...

the final countdown
The countdown has begun. I will find out in the next 10 days if I will be teaching for america. If I will soon be among the masses changing lives in inner cities schools across the nation. If I will become a member of the corps who strive to make a difference in children’s lives.
Although I felt that both my interviews went quite well, I have prepared myself if I do not make it. A lot of...

One of my roommates went to sign up for a Fitness Assessment at our university’s rec center and was baffled when she saw my picture on their web site! Little did we both know that someone snapped a photo of me right after an hour long workout and pasted it onto their homepage. And whats better is that this was taken over 2 years ago…and now my profile has been gracing the presence of...

For those of you that don’t take the time to read the article, it highlights 3 key points for proper behavior when dining at a restaurant.
1) Don’t talk on a cell phone at the table. Between hostessing at olive garden and waitressing at Sam’s Boat, I lost track of the number of customers I sat/greeted and a blue tooth with a glaring blue light rested just inside their ear, completely...

after a few crazy dating Web site entries (trust me, i dont belong to any!), flikr accounts and quilting groups, not to mention numerous sites talking about the lovely rays of the lone star state, i stumbled...

AIG. Now that you own it, learn about it!
First of all – what is AIG? AIG is American International Group, the largest insurance company in the world. It’s not just an insurance company, however; its business is divided into four divisions: general insurance, life insurance and retirement services, financial services and asset management. It was started in 1919.

Mystery Dip : Unveiled
On the coffee table sits a glass bowl overflowing with a chunky, burnt orange mixture. For the past 12 years, this Frito-friendly dip has been a staple at our family gatherings. My grandma, the creator of this satisfying appetizer, would never share her recipe, so the family dubbed it “Mystery Dip.” How original. Years went by and my curiosity got the best of me at our last family vacation to...

Usher's one night stand
Yes ladies, that’s the name of Usher’s latest tour. And get this: scheduled to perform in 15 intimate venues across the nation, his audience will consist of ladies only.
Taking it a step further, he is now in the process of creating his own line of lingerie and men’s undergarments as well as fragrance and cologne. Personally, I’d be a little “usher-ed out” if my guy and I both wore Usher’s...

The Most (un)American Icons
dihard:
Have you seen the recent Budweiser “Great American Lager” commercials? You know, the ones that are oozing with everything American – football, tailgating, the Statue of Liberty, riding motorcycles, playing in a garage band, and, of course, a fat slice of apple pie. They’re trying to remind me that their All American beer is still All American. But is it? I’m pretty sure by now we all...
